The Philippine Tarsier and Wildlife Sanctuary of Corella, Bohol is an arm of the Philippine Tarsier Foundation, Inc. (PTFI), a non-stock, non-profit organization established in 1996. The Foundation has been issued a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) by DENR to find ways to conserve as well as to promote the tarsier of Bohol.
The tarsiers have been declared to be specially protected faunal species of the Philippines by virtue of Proclamation No. 1030, declared by former Philippine President, Fidel V. Ramos on June 23, 1997.
In this pursuit, a 167 hectares sanctuary has been established by the Philippine Tarsier Foundation, Inc. covering areas within the municipalities of Corella, Sikatuna and Loboc. This is timberland area currently under the administration of the DENR and is part of the Social Forestry Project. The sanctuary starts at barangay Canapnapan in Corella, Bohol.
These three towns were chosen as the sanctuary site since numerous sightings of the tarsiers have been made within their forested domain. In fact, these were the places where the little creatures were formerly hunted down, captured and then sold to local and foreign visitors.
Declared as a sanctuary, the tarsiers are now allowed to live and reproduce freely in a natural setting. Poaching, killing and even wounding of them are strictly prohibited as well as the destruction of its declared habitat. Possession of the tarsier for educational, scientific or conservation-centered research purposes may be allowed upon certification by the DENR Secretary.
The sanctuary is mostly of secondary growth forest quite extensive and largely uninhabited and isolated from settlements. Portions of the area are open and relatively bare yet majority has lush vegetation mostly of second-growth trees, bamboo clumps, tall grass patches and thick bushes that tarsiers prefer.
One can also observe different fauna and flora in the forested areas. The later has signage with their scientific name, place of origin, geographical distribution, and a brief explanation of their properties and traditional applications.
Within the sanctuary and situated at Corella, the Tarsier Research and Development Center has been established with a visitor’s center complete with a reception and souvenir counter, an exhibition area, an audio-visual room, a mini-cafeteria, toilets, and administration offices. A lounge-deck is outside and a large parking lot beyond which no vehicles are allowed to enter.
The research center will rise within the sanctuary at Corella and this will be fully equipped with a laboratory, veterinary clinic, library, offices and conference rooms, staff quarters and storage. Suitable accommodations will also be provided for visiting scientists and technicians. Access to this center is restricted though.
Trails and pathways spread out to various parts of the sanctuary where the tarsiers can be observed in their natural habitat either with the naked eye or through binoculars. Viewing decks have been set up at ground level and some atop elevated platforms to facilitate proper sightings.
The “Tarsier Trail” has been set up by the Foundation within the forested area. The pathway winds its way thru the gently rolling terrain of the interior towns of Corella, Sikatuna and Loboc. The trail is over a distance of about 15 kilometers with established vantage points along the way.
The sanctuary is envisioned to grow with the move of the Foundation for reforestation; another priority project of the group. Portion of the sanctuary will be set aside for the cultivation and propagation of hardwoods, bamboo, varieties of palms and ferns, herbal, flowering plus medicinal plants especially those with commercial value.

I haven't been in Bohol but it's one of my list to visit. I have seen and heard good new about this sanctuary and I really would love to see tarsiers. Hope you can visit it.

Masibis Bay Resort
Last week my friend had a weekend getaway in Masibis Bay Cagragay Island in Bicol. I saw all her pictures and the place was so beautiful and nice. They had so much fun under the sun, they ride ATV, hobbie cat, banana boat, jet ski, kayak, videoke and swimming on the beach and pool. The resort is so relaxing and they really have a very nice view. This is also best for honeymooners. Maybe you should visit Masibis Bay as soon as you have your free time to bond with your loved ones.
Here's a link where you can check their site Masibis Bay

10 Places to visit in Antipolo
Antipolo offers endless possible activities that will suit your personality and travel moods. So if you are into nostalgia, ecological and religious discovery, overlooking in a sweet dark evening on top of the hill...Tayo na sa Antipolo!
1.Antipolo Cathedral - The home of Antipolo's renowned miraculous icon, the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage (Nuestra SeƱora de la Paz Y Buenviaje). If you are planning to go out of the country, this is the perfect place to pray for a safe journey.
Where: Town Proper of Antipolo
2.Boso-Boso Church - this is indeed a long-standing church; a remnant of war and geo-physical alterations, enduring all that with its full magnificence. Wild vines embracing the old stones scenario will give every visitor nostalgic flashbacks of what we were under the Spanish era. It was the same church where the foreign war movie, Hamburger Hill (1987), was filmed. Town rumor says Americans were digging treasures underneath the church while shooting the said movie. Conducive spot for educational trips and a site for a moment of peace and quiet.
Where: Sitio Boso-Boso, Brgy. San Jose
3. Pinagmisahan (Via Dolorosa) - On top of Pinagmisahan Hills are the enormous White Cross and the outsized image of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage. It is a grotto-like hill that welcomes pilgrims from everywhere. Expect to encounter life-sized images of the station-of-the-cross along the way to the top of the hill to sacredly reflect the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Observe silence at all times because it is considered as a sacred place. No cameras and food allowed inside.
Where: The highest peak along Kaytikling Road
4. Hamaka Park - Hamaka Park got its name from an old transportation mode of AntipoleƱos -- traveling women or their leaders through hammocks or hamaka. It has bronze figures of Antipolo's mark of distinction such as the hamaka tradition, Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage and town sellers of the City's major products (suman, mangga and kasoy).
Where: P. Oliveros Street
5. Hinulugang Taktak - proclaimed as a national historical shrine in 1990, the waterfalls is a part of Antipolo's ecological and cultural heritage. It has a meditation area where it offers physical and spiritual cleansing for pilgrims. The water is used to be known for its energetic lift that revitalizes waning mental, physical and emotional state. That was before when it was not yet misused and abused. DENR-PAWB rehabilitated the tourist spot and developed it as a national park. It now has a swimming pool, picnic spots and other amenities suitable for family outings. Catch cultural play and concerts in front of the waterfalls during the month of May. A must-try for those who loves to come into contact with both arts of nature and arts of culture.
Where: Taktak Road, Barangay Dela Paz
6. Mystical Cave -One must overcome 205 steps in order to reach the gate of this cave. It has said to have natural stalactite and stalagmite formations of religious images such as the Pieta, Holy Trinity, Mount of Calvary, Holy Spirit, Nazarene, Madonna and Child, etc. A tour guide will lead you inside this dark cold cave while he explains the figures and how they were formed. This is in fact a popular place for filmmakers. Pedro Penduko, Spirit Warriors, Dyesebel, Marina, Engkantadia and Asian Treasures are some of the movies and TV series filmed inside the cave. You can actually see remnants of props used by the movie production. An interesting spelunking adventure everyone should explore. Best to come by every holy week. They allow pilgrims to sleep over inside the cave during Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. But eating inside is strictly prohibited.
Outside the cave has a makeshift space which serves as a gallery for historical photos and articles, prepared by Inday Nelly Deles. She is said to be the ‘owner' or the ‘caretaker' of Mystical Cave. Originally from Iloilo, she ‘discovered' the cave through the ‘voice' from her dreams.
Where: Puting Bato, Brgy. San Luis
7. PACEM Ecology Park - Its main attraction is the exclusive garden for live butterflies. Not only for entomologist wannabes but also for folks who appreciate the beautiful gift of nature. Check out their mini-zoo, herbal garden and museum of seashells, butterflies, and moths pulled together from different parts of the world.
Where: Inside Assumption Antipolo along Sumulong Highway
8. Overlooking View - A spot where you can enjoy the spectacular view of Metro Manila. You can park yourself alone in one of the nipa huts owned by various Resto-Bar for some serious soul searching, or be with your special someone and take advantage on the cold romantic mood, or perhaps chill out with your best buddies and toss down some booze.
Where: Along Sumulong Highway

Anawangin, Zambales
Anawangin is a paradise because of it's beautiful scenery and you can do anything you want. Spending your summer vacation in Anawangin is an opportunity for you, your family and friends to bond. Anawagin is a camping site, new experience you could have. It's very cheap because you don't have to pay for your accommodations, you need to bring your own tent. I guess you're asking is there a comfort room? Yes, there is and water pump that you could use for cleaning yourself up. You'll just spend for your transportation expenses(bus ride and boat ride) and food which I think P2000 would be enough. You can do kayaking, fishing, trekking and island hopping. You'll definitely have fun. Bring your whole family and barkada, the more the merrier.

Valentines Day Romantic Dinner Getaway
There are different restaurants in the Philippines where you can have romantic dinner date with your loved ones. One of my personal choice would be Seven Suites Hotel in Antipolo City. It's very nice because you can have a candle lit dinner with bottle of wine, bouquet of flowers, souvenirs and star gazing. That would be so romantic. You should bring your loved one there and spend the night in their beautiful hotel rooms and sumptuous dinner they serve.

Puraran Beach, Catanduanes Island Philippines
This is where you can find Puraran beach -- it’s listed as one of the top surfing locations in the world. Like most beaches here, it isn’t been developed so it’s basically small makeshift huts, sand and amazing waves. Puraran beach is the surfing capital of Catanduanes, it has clean white beach it is also internationally known as Majestic. Barras beaches on the other hand, is not as white as the other beaches but it boasts of clean and clear waters. Puraran Beach, Baras, Catanduanes Province -- One of my five office secretaries Mela said that her home province is one of the best kept secrets of Philippine tourism due to its world-class surfing sites and awesome white-sand beaches. March to August are the best times to visit.
The general landscape of the Catanduanes island is hilly to mountainous, becoming more pronounced towards the central portion. Less than 10 percent of the land area has slope gradient under 8 percent, mostly fractured and narrow strips of plains dispersed near the coastal areas where most of the inhabitants are settled. Once in Tabaco Point you have three ferries to choose from to get yourself to Catanduanes. From San Andres to Virac you can either jump on a Jeepney or take a trike, whatever your fancy. The perfect time to visit Catanduanes is from the months of March to August when the weather turns dry. It is coolest and rainiest from October to the early part of January, hottest from March to May.
Puraran
The waves could be heard crashing, the crickets singing, a blanket of stars laid above, and bright lights of the fireflies surrounded us. What other word for that is there, other than magical? Siargao Island presents interesting contrasts; its huge and powerful waves, brought about by being near the Philippine Deep, are a surfer’s dream. If you visit the island you will no doubt see some of the world’s best surfers riding the breathtaking waves. The country’s top spots for waves have already been discovered by the international surfing community.

Loboc River
The Loboc River is now one of the major destinations of tourists, local and foreigners alike. Located in the Municipality of Loboc, a mere 24 kilometers away from Tagbilaran City, the winding river plays host to cruisers on board small bancas or floating restaurants. Visitors are treated to a vista of lush tropical vegetation such as nipa palms, coconut trees, banana groves, and bushes.
A cruise along the river starts either from the Loay Bridge (a neighboring town) or at the town’s Poblacion. The Loay Bridge is 20 kilometers from Tagbilaran City while the Poblacion is about 25 kilometers away. Small motorized bancas can be availed of for a minimal fee yet for those who want to eat while cruising, floating restaurants are available offering Filipino cuisine buffet that costs P400 per head or more and local delicacies.
With the tourism fever, the floating restaurants were envisioned providing tourists with a 1st class dining experience on board floating restaurants. The floating vessels are made up of a covered platform on top of two large outrigger boats which are joined together. The boats can accommodate up to 50 people.
Most of the floating restaurants treat their guests with Boholano songs played by in-boat bands during the cruise. The trip winds up the river and ends at the Busay Falls which is only one and a half meter at most. Here, the guests are treated to rondalla music by a local rondalla group housed under a floating cottage.
Local folks usually take a dip in the waters and enjoy bathing under the falls. Guests who have brought with them extra clothes are welcome to swim and bathe and experience the heady feeling of a refreshing swim in the river’s unpolluted waters.
Going to and from the Busay falls, visitors are treated to a spectacle of children diving from a large coconut tree that is leaning out towards the river. One will feel a bit tense seeing the children climbing up the tree and then plunging towards the deep waters. From the looks of it, the part of the tree where the children usually dive from is more than 10 feet from the river.
Along the way, one can see children swimming and people passing by in small bancas or canoes. Upstream, and located on the eastern bank of the river, the Nuts Huts Resort is seen. This resort is a favorite hang-out for bikers and hikers who prefer the peaceful and scenic surroundings of the river bank rather than the majestic allure of the sea.
Another area worth visiting is where wild chickens, turtles, and pythons are kept in captivity. On this trips, visitors are given the time to marvel at the surrounding landscape. After a while, the return trip starts. Since the trip is going downstream, it takes a shorter time for the boats to arrive at the starting point.
How to Get There
Many buses, jeepneys, and multicabs ply the interior route to and from Tagbilaran City. It is a lot cheaper if you avail of this local transport. However, vans and taxis are also available but usually charges 50% more if traveling outside Tagbilaran City. It is not hard to locate the Municipality of Loboc for it lies along the river banks. The old and massive stone church of Loboc is your landmark. The church is right beside the road, and at the opposite side of the road, you will see the Loboc River.

Loboc river in Bohol is beautiful you should visit it. There's a floating restaurant there where you can explore the beauty of Loboc river. It's very affordable and the dishes are very authentic and delicious.

Amanpulo, Palawan
Amanpulo is an escape from the markings of mankind and is a dive into island life where nature has
been unashamedly boastful. The island is secluded, being private, and offers a variety of sea, sand and tropical island-retreat–pleasures, in exclusive comfort and in traditionally styled accommodation. Amanpulo or, ‘peaceful island’, honours its island host, respecting the natural elements with a profoundly ‘South Seas’ interpretation. The 40 Beach, Hillside and Treetop Casitas are modelled on authentic bahay kubo dwellings, each with its own golf cart for island exploration.
This romantically remote island caters for those who wish to ‘hammock’ and beach comb their days in paradise, and for those who seek an active agenda, involving a myriad of maritime adventures as well as tennis, a high-tec air-conditioned gym, and taking languid lengths in the resort’s 30m serene pool. The open-air Garden and Beach Salas are discreetly secluded for pleasurable holistic body treatments.
casitas & villas
Amanpulo’s native style of dwellings enhances its exclusive island stronghold. There are 40 casitas fashioned after a Philippine bahay kubo: a centuries old South East Asian rural archetype where family life was played out beneath steep pitched roofs on timber frames.
The five Hillside Casitas offer magical sea views, the four Treetop Casitas embrace the trees while the 29 Beach Casitas have private overgrown paths that lead down to the soft white beach. All are nestled discreetly among the sand-floored tropical foliage and enjoy their own buggy for unlimited enjoyment of island exploration. Subtle interiors, warm and sun-dappled, are smoothed out in shades of caramel and bamboo with pristine king-size beds. The bathrooms are spacious and appealing with raised Cebu marble bathtubs and twin vanities. A soft honey brown wooden floor is laid throughout with island appropriate comforts from daybeds to rattan furniture and attractive regional artwork.
Each casita enjoys a sprawling wooden sundeck with inviting loungers and dappled shade from vibrant bougainvillea and two deluxe Hillside Casitas have an unrivalled sweeping vista of the Sulu Sea and neighbouring islands. All casitas come with a flat-screen satellite television, DVD/CD player and iPod dock, all connnected to a surround-sound system, a coffeemaker with complimentary coffee and tea, as well as a safe. Hats, slippers and beach bags are available in the casitas for guests' use on the island and as souvenirs when they go home. The 21st century has been skilfully tucked beneath its alluring island exterior so that one’s perceptions of an enchanting remote archipelagic island can be effortlessly played out in uncompromised style.
activities
scuba diving & snorkelling
The abundant and beautiful reef waters that surround Pamalican and neighbouring islands are tailor-made for snorkelling and diving. A complimentary snorkelling and fish-feeding trip is scheduled daily. For novice scuba divers, Amanpulo is a welcoming retreat, with mirror-smooth seas in front of the Beach Club and a gentle drop-off to deeper water. For certified divers, there are a number of fine sites on both sides of Pamalican, all within easy reach by dive boat. Aquaventure, Amanpulo’s dive company, is a five-star PADI operation offering courses ranging from introductory to advanced. All equipment is provided by Amanpulo’s Dive Shop. Underwater lights are also available. Divers must be at least 10 years of age.
windsurfing
Amanpulo is a magnet for novice as well as experienced windsurfers. The island’s sand-bottom blue lagoon, located on the windward side, makes for world-class board sailing from December through April. During this period, the northeast trade winds blow, on average, about 20 knots. Amanpulo’s Windsurf Hut is located under a canopy of trees along Pamalican’s east-coast beach.
sailing
Amanpulo’s fleet includes a twin-hulled Hobie Sports 21, as well as two smaller catamarans and two Lasers. Sailing lessons are available.
cruise
The Sulu Sea has fine cruising waters. Amanpulo keeps a variety of boats for island hopping, fishing and lazy-day sailing, including the 34ft Dolphin II. The fibreglass Gulf Craft can take up to 10 guests on half-day and full-day charters. Manamoc Island, across the channel, is a popular cruise and picnic area. Other sea-going options include a sunset cruise and a leisurely cruise of the Sulu Sea by moonlight. Guests can arrange for a private beach barbecue dinner after their cruise.
island tour
A walk around the island’s sand beach will take about 90 minutes. There are also a number of bush paths and two modest hills to explore. At high tide, baby sharks chasing bait fish are sometimes seen in the shallows at Pamalican’s southern end.
spa treatments
At Amanpulo, the resort’s resident masseuses offer a range of massages and body treatments, as well as aromatherapy and beauty treatments in the privacy of a guest’s casita, in the air-conditioned Spa Casita, or at the open-air Garden Sala or Beach Sala.
-----------------
Amanpulo is a great place to relax and enjoy our nature. It's expensive but it's worthy because of the beauty you can see and there are many things you can do.
